Blue carbon, developed with the communities who live it

BlueMX restores mangrove and tidal-wetland ecosystems in coastal Mexico.

Who we are

BlueMX is a blue-carbon project developer working in the coastal wetlands of Mexico. We design, finance and deliver large-scale mangrove restoration with the ejidos and Indigenous communities who hold the land, combining field science, community agreements built on free, prior and informed consent, and long-term monitoring. Our work is developed under the Verra Verified Carbon Standard.

The BlueMX Aztlán Blue Carbon Project

Our flagship project restores degraded mangrove systems in the Marismas Nacionales, Nayarit, one of the largest mangrove complexes on the American Pacific coast. The project is registered with Verra and has completed validation; restoration is under way across community-held sites, with an expanding pipeline across two development horizons. A second project is in development in the Alvarado Lagoon system, Veracruz.
